OfficeVision Replacement

Do you have OfficeVision (OV/400) integrated into your applications? Do any of your customers use OV/400 extensively? Introduced in 1989, IBM says OV/400 has been used primarily for electronic mail, calendar scheduling, and document management.

In Withdrawal Announcement 999-031 dated February 9, 1999, IBM announced that V4R4 would be the last release containing OfficeVison/400. Because of individual account situations that might be affected by the need to migrate business applications to alternative solutions, IBM decided to ship OfficeVision/400 for one additional OS/400 release after V4R4.

Wintouch eCRM integrates the most frequently used features of OfficeVision.

Wintouch does not require OfficeVision/400, plus it works on iSeries V5R2 and all earlier versions. Documents are stored in the iSeries AS/400 Integrated FileSystem (IFS) and easily retrieved.

The most frequently requested OfficeVision features are:

• Large volume mail merge: Wintouch is integrated with Word and contains a simple "Mail Merge Helper" to create your mail merge documents. The Mail Merge Helper lets you select Form Letters, Mailing Labels, Envelopes or Catalogs from with an "Active Window" in Wintouch (i.e. Account Summary) with a list of all available Wintouch fields in the Active Window. From there, simply select each field you want to merge into your document at the appropriate place. You can save the final document as a template on the AS/400.

• Calendaring: Wintouch includes a calendar function for users and facilities. Offers event and facility scheduling capabilities, including time zone support. Schedule your "to do list" and utilize the built-in time zone support. As with a calendar or an appointment book, Wintouch helps you keep track of your activities. You can add an appointment and notes to today's schedule, and view another day's schedule. You can go to your schedule for another day, week or month or for another person while you are viewing any schedule on the screen.

  Easy "drag and drop" moves a scheduled item from one day to another. Plus, it's simple to reassign a task or transfer it to another person.

• Email: Wintouch provides an email system that can interface with other email systems. Send and receive notes, meeting notices, memos, reports, and other mail electronically. When notes are sent to you, Wintouch puts them in your in-basket. To reply, Wintouch automatically addresses the reply to the person who sent the note and keeps the original subject of the note to which you are replying in the "Subject:" field.

  You can also email spooled files and attachments to outgoing email.

• Word processing: The Wintouch OV/400 replacement includes basic word processing on your green screen emulation with editing capability. Provides facilities to handle documents using Document Composition Facility (DCF) or DisplayWrite/370.

  Wintouch is a client/server application that sits on the AS/400 server and is accessed via a browser or company intranet to emulate and actually access the data in your green screen applications.

• Printing: Processes RFT documents and spooled files.

• Document management: Supports graphics and image documents. Retention Management System supports retention policies for notes and documents.

• Publish documents to website:

• Integrated 5250 emulator: Allows access to Query Management Facility (QMF) directly. Provides an interface to access Application System (AS) directly.

• Server install: Installed, serviced and upgraded on the AS/400 with no client hardware or software installation or maintenance. Access your AS/400 using Wintouch from any PC, Mac or Linux desktop or laptop unit with Internet or intranet access.

• ASP or client/server solution: Available in an ASP version as well as in a client/server version, Wintouch could be an easy solution to all of your OfficeVision replacement woes.
